Sol Duc Hot Springs Camping

We needed one night of lodging before getting on the ferries so we stayed at Sol Duc Springs Campground in Olympic National Park. The campsites were in a beautiful forest. The kids loved making an obstacle course out of the falling trees. The springs looked really nice but we had other plans.

Driving the Washington Coast

We made a few stops heading toward our campsite for the night. The Washington Coast part of Olympic National Park is beautiful. We even saw a whale.

Hurricane Ridge

Now for the mountains – From the campground we drove to the Hurricane Ridge part of Olympic National Park and enjoyed the views. They have several very reasonable trails and we all enjoyed the scenery. It reminded us of our adopted home state Colorado. Very Pretty

Deception Pass

One of our favorite places on Whidbey island is Deception Pass. It is known for its amazing views and beautiful bridge. There is also a very family friendly beach (Rosaria Beach) and tidal pools to explore. We went on a Sunday and were able to talk to the rangers. The kids got Jr. Badges for trash collecting. It’s such a peaceful and beautiful place. This was our second trip to the bridge and we will hope to be back.

The Cute Little Town of Coopeville, and the Bakery

While M was off enjoying herself at camp the rest of us were enjoying a small airbnb above a bakery in Coupeville, Washington. It has a very cute historic downtown. We spent the days walking along the shore, exploring the seaside museums and reading at the library. We tried not to overindulge on the baked goods and ice cream shops but I’m not sure we were very successful with that.

We were a short drive from Fort Casey for a day of exploring, kite flying, lighthouses, and beach combing.
