There are lots of options for establishing incomes on the road and many resources for finding those options. I’m not going to go into them in detail. There are many to choose from. Basically I recommend getting a few books and researching what interests you. We are living off of my husband’s normal IT job income, some rental property income and if this blog generates any money we’ll use that too. I’ve added links to a few books to get you started. I’ve read some of these, others are on my list to read.
I do highly recommend having an income established before you get going. You can increase that income on the road but most projects will need a few months before they become profitable. If you end up getting a traditional job that is remote, I recommend giving it a trail at home before hitting the road. You want to get all the kinks out before you leave.
Avenues for on the road income include online teaching (very common, especially teaching languages), writing, blogs and websites, selling products on Amazon, marketing, consulting, medical coding, real estate, retirement income and others. I’ve also seen quiet a bit of remote work for RN’s and medical professionals (although the PA thing is a little tricky since the supervising physician thing gets a little fuzzy). Just google remote jobs and list of options will appear.
I like the idea of trying to get at least a little bit of a somewhat passive income established so that you are not depended on just one source. The chances of you becoming overnight wealthy are small but with good choices and up front work you may be able to give yourself more security and flexibility.
I like to start with general ideas. Once you find something that you think may work for you then get more specific books. Generally I find most of these books are quick reads and they will all give you a pointer or two that you can use later. Also consider YouTube videos and Facebook group pages for more advice and networking.
