Morocco is a country that can overwhelm the senses. The beauty, sights and sounds of this country can be simply described only as Morrocan. Morocco is a short trip from Europe but is a world away in atmosphere. This country is located at the very north of Africa and can be seen from Gibraltar. If you’re staying in Andalusia Spain, Tangier can be seen in a day via a ferry trip but staying overnight or a couple of days can be a more immersive experience.
We kind of stumbled in to our trip to Morocco but I loved it. Instead of taking the ferry from Spain we choose to fly in and out from Marrakesh. Our original plan was to take the overnight train to Tangier and the ferry across but I couldn’t seem to work out a good rental car price when we got to Spain – so we flew in to Lisbon instead.

Marrakesh is a great way to start exposing kids to different cultures and experiences. I highly recommend the Atlas mountain trip and getting a guide the first day. We stayed in the Medina but if you want to ease in to the full experience then staying outside of town in a resort is also a good idea
